The Daughter of Time is based on the novel by Josephine Tey which was voted the best detective story of all time by the British Crime Writers Association.
The play is set in a hospital ward in the early 1960s. Detective Inspector Grant from Scotland Yard is recovering from an injury and to relieve the boredom begins to investigate the crimes of Richard III of “Princes in the Tower” fame. Dissatisfied with accounts in history books, he gets to the truth by examining documents uncovered for him at the British Museum.
